The Tales of Einarinn

This is someone I just picked up at random the other day in the book store and was quite pleasantly surprised. The series so far consists of three books
The Thief's Gambit , The Swordsman's Oath and The Gamblers Fortune with a fourth book on the way The Warrior's Bond.

McKenna offers up a good strong story backed with nice solid writing. The two main characters, Livak, a female gambler and part time thief, and Ryshad, a swordsman in the employee of a prince, alternate as the narrator of each book giving us an insight to each characters view of the world.

The basic story line is about a plot by the a far off lost group of people called the "Elietimm" who use a form of magic currently unknown in the world. They have the usual goal of "Ruling The World" and "Enslaving the Masses". Livak and Ryshad are our heroes in this adventure and have the backing of the "Powerful But Misunderstood/Mistrusted" wizards who originally employed Livak to help them recover some ancient artifacts.

The story unfolds slowly but with a nice steady pace, there is just enough romance mixed in to keep the characters 'real' but not get in the way for those who like a good old fashioned adventure.

All in all I have quite enjoyed the series so far and am looking forward to the next installment.
